Tuesday...

Today we talked about truth and justification.
Worksheet 'The Cow in the field'
1. Farmer put Daisy in the field
2. Dairyman says Daisy's in the field >> source of info has changed
3. Farmer goes to field, sees a black and white shape in the distance behind tree. Believes this is Daisy.
4. Dairyman checks and sees 2 things.. a) finds Daisy behind a bush
b) A black & white piece of paper, caught in the trees.

Although Farmer Field had justification to BELIEVE that it is Daisy he can see in the field, (due to his prior steps 1 and 2..) he is still wrong.
Daisy is in the field, like he thought, but he was wrong to say that he KNEW she was there.
He had the right to say ke knew, but (quote from Mr Dio!) his 'right was wrong..'

Jusitification needs to be appropriate to the truth that you're trying to find out.
Farmer Fields justification and the 'real' justification are 2 different things.

We also did another sheet about JTB, and were questioned whether
'Knowing the answer is the same as knowing the answer is correct.

Example...

A person who has recently studied geometry was asked 'what is pi?'
He replies ' I don't know..'
Then a few minutes later he remembers and says "Yes I do know, its 3.1416....."

If it's in your memory, and you cannot remember it, is it knowledge???
