Monday the 9th of March

I'm a little late here, soooo sorry bout that. On Monday, today we just got into technicalities. And guess what, they all conform to a rule of 3. There are 3 views on on knowledge, 3 laws of false, 3 criteria for truth and three ways for justification. Here they are :

The 3 views on Knowledge
  1. Scepticism- We will doubt all "knowledge", assuming its knowledge=) In other words, we can know nothing.
  2. Internalism- Knowledge is an internal affair(thus the name). This means its only knowledge if you know it.(we cannot "not know knowledge)
  3. Externalism- Knowledge is external(gee i couldnt have guessed...). Knowledge is there, its just that we haven't got it.(we can "not know" knowledge)

3 laws of False

  1. The law of identity: If P is true, then P is true.
  2. The law of non-identity: P cannot be both true and false. (Well duh...)
  3. The law of Excluded middle: P must be either true or false.

Criteria for True or False

  1. Correspondence Theory: P is true if it corresponds with reality.
  2. Coherence Theory: P is true if it coheres with some system of other statements. (fills in with existing beliefs)
  3. Pragmatic Theory: P is true if it "works" or is (cognitively) usefuls.

Types of Justification

  1. Coherentism: Justification not based on a foundation of certainty but by mutual support, explanation, consistency etc.
  2. Foundationalism: Justication upon certain foundation that require no further justification.
  3. Reliabilism: Justification based on a reliable method.

Well thats about it. See yall tomorow=)
