Why Ask Questions?
The class was given a set of questions and we were asked to categorize them.
Here are the key points that were brought up in the discussion that ensued.
Subjective Knowledge as a category.
Attainable Knowledge and Factual Knowledge are different because Knowledge that you attain maybe be a lie and not a Fact.
Unverifiable Knowledge is Knowledge where you cannot substantiate your answers. Eg. Will science eventually tell us how and why the universe started?
An interesting observation brought up was that we are categorizing the questions based on asnwers. We almost always think about the answer of a question more than the question itself.
Objective Answers were defined as that that is unbiased. It is one agreed upon answer and an answer that should be as true as possible.
A fact is fixed and unchangeable. It gives a property to an idea.
Number of Planets VS Colour of Table. We think that the Colour of the Table is less prone to error compared to the Number of Planets as we have made a mistake in the latter once before in history.
Questions can also be classified by the field of Knowledge that they fall under.
